How much leather do I need?

Sold by the square foot, not the yard Measured at the tannery to the nearest ¼ sq ft 1 yd of 54″ fabric ≈ 18 sq ft
Before you order

Hides are irregular and grain direction limits how pieces nest. Plan on 15-25% above your measured area - more for large single panels, less for small pieces.

Order every hide for one piece at the same time. Colour varies between dye lots and matching a hide bought two months later is not something anyone can promise.

No measurement yet? Ask your upholsterer for a yardage figure before ordering. It costs nothing and beats any calculator.
