- Our Crazy Horse Cowhide is made from premium hides and finished with a blend of waxes and oils that give it its world-renowned distressed look. Smooth to the touch, the surface shows a strong pull-up effect with lighter tones revealed when the leather is flexed or bent — most visible in lighter colors such as whiskey and brown, and more subtle in black.
- At 4–5 oz (1.8–2.0 mm), this leather is heavy-weight with a firm temper that stands on its own and does not soften significantly with use. It is much stiffer than our Natural Grain Cowhide, making it especially suited for structured projects. The hides are drum-dyed for full color penetration, ensuring depth and consistency throughout.
- The backside is smooth and clean, making it usable without lining, though lining can be added if desired. Over time, Crazy Horse develops scuffs, marks, and shading that become part of the patina, giving each piece its own vintage character.
